The goal of this workshop is to help the Program Faculty be more effective and culturally responsive in their research mentoring relationships. In the workshop, mentors will: (1) Increase their knowledge of evidence-based research mentoring strategies to better align expectations and promote mentee professional development; (2) Identify how their own cultural beliefs, worldviews, and identities influence their mentoring practices; (3) Increase their awareness of how cultural diversity can bring both benefits and challenges to research mentoring and training environments; (4) Recognize and build skills to mitigate the impact of biases, stereotype threat, and privilege in order to foster trusting, culturally responsive mentoring relationships.
